48 victims of alleged recruitment scam file case against agency before DOJ

Forty-eight victims of an alleged recruitment scam filed criminal complaints against a recruitment agency before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday.

Apple Cabasis, one of the complainants, identified the respondents of the illegal recruitment and estafa cases as Alpha Assistenza SLR, its owner Krizelle Respicio and several others.

Cabasis and the other victims were accompanied by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives at the DOJ.

Victims sought the help of the DOJ in September, saying they were allowed to pay the fee of 3,000 euros or P180,000 on an installment basis for their work permits.

However, when the victims submitted the supposed permits they obtained to the Italian Embassy for the processing of their work visa, their application was denied.

For its part, Respicio through its legal counsel, Charlie Pascual, said they were willing to participate in the investigation and answer the allegations in the proper forum.

The lawyer also denied Respicio’s alleged involvement in any recruitment scam—RF, GMA Integrated News
