Philippines lands 4 more universities in QS Asia Rankings


Four Philippine universities secured spots in the 2024 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Rankings in Asia for the first time.

This year’s QS results now include the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Far Eastern University (FEU) Manila, and Mindanao State University (MSU).

The 4 schools join 12 other Philippine universities that are already on the list.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines (UP) remains the highest-ranked Filipino institution at 78th place, an improvement from its previous 87 in 2023.

Rounding out the top 4 are Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) at 134, De La Salle University (DLSU) at 171, and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) at 179.

The 16th edition of the QS World University Rankings: Asia has a total of 856 institutions from 25 countries and territories.

India overtook China as the most represented higher education system, with 148 featured universities (30 more than last year). There are 133 Chinese universities followed by Japan with 96.

Peking University held the top spot of the rankings for another year as the region’s best university.—RF, GMA Integrated News
