Murder, theft raps filed vs 3 suspects in radio anchor Jumalon’s killing —PNP

Murder and theft complaints were filed against three suspects in the killing of radio anchor Juan Jumalon alias DJ Johnny Walker in Calamba, Misamis Occidental, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said the complaint was filed on Wednesday before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Misamis Occidental.

The name of one of the suspects was identified but it cannot be disclosed while the case buildup is ongoing, the PNP said.

Meanwhile, the two remaining suspects are John Does.

Jumalon was killed on Sunday by an unidentified gunman while he was doing a live broadcast for his radio program on 94.7 Calamba Gold FM at his residence in Calamba, Misamis Occidental.

The suspect went to Jumalon’s residence pretending to have an important announcement aired on the radio station but suddenly drew his firearm and shot the radio anchor, hitting the lower lip towards the back portion of the head.

Jumalon was rushed to the Calamba District Hospital by his family but was pronounced dead on arrival by the duty physician.

The PNP on Monday released a computerized sketch of one of the suspects. It said the suspect in the sketch was the one who stayed at the gate.
