AFP kicks off 2023 DAGITPA exercises

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday opened its joint exercises Dagat-Langit-Lupa (DAGITPA) involving over 1,500 soldiers through a ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

In a statement, the AFP said the participants are from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Special Operations Command, and Cyber Group.

Staff, command post, cyber defense, and field training events will be held in the Northern Luzon Command area of responsibility, according to the AFP.

The exercises will focus on territorial defense, maritime security, and counter-terrorism.

These would also include capabilities development training that will boost AFP’s tactics, techniques, and procedures across a wide range of military operations.

AFP chief General Romeo Brawner Jr., in his message, reminded participants to take the exercises seriously as these will prepare the AFP to face a "formidable adversary anytime in the future".

The exercises will also further enhance the military's capability to respond to threats to national security, he added.

"Together, we will harness the power of seamless collaboration across our branches of service. We will demonstrate to the world that we are a force to be reckoned with. Strive to surpass our own expectations and redefine the limits of what is possible," Brawner said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
