VP Sara casts vote for BSKE 2023 in Davao City

Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday morning cast her vote for the 2023 BSKE in her hometown in Davao City.

Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday morning cast her vote for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in her hometown in Davao City.

Duterte voted at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Barangay Matina Crossing at past 8:50 a.m., according to Jaycel Villacorte's report on Super Radyo dzBB.

Her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, is also expected to vote in the same polling precinct.

As the concurrent secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), Duterte said that they are strictly monitoring all the schools being used as polling precincts for the BSKE.

She said that her office has not yet received any major problems so far.

The Vice President also encouraged all eligible Filipinos to exercise their right to vote in this election.

“Ang halalan ay isang natatanging proseso na kung saan lahat ng Pilipino, anuman ang estado sa buhay, ay nabibigyan ng pagkakataong makapag ambag para sa Bayan sa pamamagitan ng pagpili ng karapat dapat na mamuno sa ating lipunan. Ipakita natin ang ating pagkakaisa bilang isang bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagboto,” she said in a social media post.

(The election is a unique process in which all Filipinos, regardless of their status in life, are given the opportunity to contribute to the community by choosing the right person to lead. Let's show our unity as a nation by voting.)

Duterte also underscored the role of barangay officials in providing services at the community level.

“Mahalaga ang papel na ginagampanan ng ating mga opisyal sa barangay sapagkat sila ang nasa unang antas ng pamamahala sa gobyerno na maaring magbigay tulong at solusyon sa mga problemang kinakaharap natin sa community level. Ang kanilang integridad at dedikasyon sa paglilingkod ay kailangan nating suriin at tukuyin,” she added.

(The role of our barangay officials is important because they are the government’s frontliners who can provide help and solutions to the problems we face at the community level. We should evaluate and determine their integrity and dedication to service.)

On Wednesday, Duterte visited the main office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to check on the poll body and the DepEd’s command center for the BSKE.
