LTO calls for retraction of injunction against driver's license cards

The Land Transportation Office chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II on Tuesday announced another possible halt to the release of physical driver’s license cards following the issuance of a Writ of Preliminary Injunction against the LTO by Allcards Inc.

In a statement, Atty. Mendoza explained that the previous restraining order had a big impact on the LTO's morale and work.

“With the issuance of the Writ of Preliminary Injunction, we are again taking away that hope for normalcy from millions of our affected and would-be affected kababayans, especially with the uncertainty at this point as to when the case would be resolved with finality,” Mendoza said in the statement.

“Wala man ako sa LTO nang mag-umpisa ang problemang ito, ramdam na ramdam ko ang epekto nito sa ating mga kababayan lalo na at galing ako sa transport sector bago pumasok sa ahensyang ito,” he added.

He then called for Allcard, Inc. not to pursue the case further in the interest of the general public despite the government’s readiness to enter into a lengthy legal battle to resolve the long-standing issue.

“I personally extend my appeal to Allcard Inc. not to pursue the case it filed anymore for the sake of the Filipino people who are at the core of both our mission and vision to have easier and convenient way of life through reliable technology platforms. Wala namang mawawala sa pagpapakumbaba para sa kapakanan ng milyong-milyon nating mga kababayan na apektado nito,” he said.

Allcard Inc. has yet to issue a response to Mendoza's statement. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
