PSA warns vs PhilID scanning scheme

The Philippine Statistics Authority on Friday asked the public not to fall for illegal data collection schemes involving the PhilID.

“The PSA wishes to inform the public that we are not conducting any activity related to scanning of the PhilID cards or the ePhilID, or any form of data collection or verification through unauthorized means,” the statement read.

''Do not submit your PhilID, ePhilID, or any personal information to any individual or entity claiming to represent the PSA for scanning, data collection, or verification. Such activities are unauthorized and could compromise your privacy and security,'' it added.

It urged the public to report people or organizations claiming to be associated with PSA requesting the PhilID or ePhilID for scanning or other suspicious activities.

''We urge you to report the same immediately to the Fraud Management Division of PSA through its email address at fmd.staff@psa.gov.ph or visit the PhilSys Registration Center near you,'' the PSA said. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
