3 DAYS AFTER DEFACING INCIDENT

House of Representatives' website back online

The House of Representatives’ website is back online after being defaced by hackers last Sunday.

A statement from the Office of Speaker Martin Romualdez of Leyte said the House's website was fully restored on Wednesday at around 4:30 p.m.

A check on House’s website on Wednesday afternoon also showed that the website’s legislative tab, the database of pending measures, is already able to yield results as it used to prior to Sunday’s defacing.

The URL congress.gov.ph had the following message on its homepage on Sunday morning: "YOU'VE BEEN HACKED. YOU'VE BEEN HACKED. HAVE A NICE DAY.”

It was accompanied by a caricature of a laughing man and the message "HAPPY APRIL FULLZ KAHIT OCTOBER PALANG! HACKED BY 3MUSKETEERZ 15-October-2023 || 11:31:24 AM" below it.

In the aftermath of Sunday's incident, the House took its website down to address the apparent hacking attempt.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco earlier said that while the website went back online at 4 p.m. on Monday, it was taken down again on Tuesday as a "precautionary measure to double-check and reinforce the cybersecurity measures.” —VAL, GMA Integrated News
