Show cause orders issued vs. BSKE candidates reach 3,541

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a total of 3,541 show cause orders against candidates in the October 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Elections (BSKE).

According to the data provided by Comelec Chairman George Garcia, 529 of 3,541 candidates have already answered the show cause orders issued by the poll body as of September 29.

Upon Comelec’s initial assessment, the poll body is eyeing the filing of disqualification petitions against 211 BSKE candidates, while 222 complaints have already been dropped.

Earlier in the day, the Comelec’s Task Force Anti-Epal filed petitions for disqualification against 35 candidates.

Of this number, one is running for barangay chairman, four are running for SK chairperson, nine are running for barangay kagawad, and 21 are running for SK kagawad.—VBL, GMA Integrated News
