Marcos to gov't execs: Ensure no anomaly in Food Stamp Program implementation

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday tasked all concerned government agencies to ensure that there would be no anomaly in the implementation of the Food Stamp Program.

This as Marcos led the launching of the FSP at the Teatro Nan Dapa in Dapa, Siargao Island.

"Tiyakin ninyong walang bahid ng anumang anomalya ang pamamalakad ng ating mga proyekto (Ensure that there will be no trace of anomaly in all of our projects),” he said in his speech.

Under the program, the Department of Social Welfare and Development will provide electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards that will be loaded with food credits amounting to P3,000 per month to purchase a select list of food commodities from DSWD- registered or -accredited retailers.

Marcos said the distribution of the EBT cards not only aims to achieve zero hunger in the Philippines but also ensures that beneficiaries are eating healthy food.

“Isinusulong natin ang ‘Food Stamps Program’ upang matiyak na hindi lamang busog ang mga benepisyaryo, kundi malusog, masigla, at malakas na magagampanan ang pang-araw-araw na mga gawain,” he said.

(We are pushing for the Food Stamps Program to guarantee that beneficiaries are eating healthy food so that they can perform their daily duties.)

“Kaya naman, masaya ako at sisimulan na rin natin ngayon ang Food Stamp Program dito sa CARAGA (I am glad that we will start the Food Stamp Program here in CARAGA)," he added.

Meanwhile, Marcos also distributed around 2,265 sacks of rice to 4Ps beneficiaries under Level 1 (survival), Level 2 (subsistence) and Level 3 (self-sufficient) in Siargao Island.

The President said this was part of the 42,180 smuggled sacks of rice worth P42 million that were seized by Bureau of Customs in Zamboanga City early this month.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
