SC condemns FB accounts for allegedly claiming AI would check, sort Bar Exams
The Supreme Court on Saturday condemned two social media accounts for allegedly claiming that the 2023 Bar Examinations would be "sorted, checked, and corrected by means of artificial intelligence."
Identifying the two accounts as Bar Law for Dummies Training Program and Tzidkenu Dizon Facebook accounts, SC Associate Justice and 2023 Bar Examinations Chair Ramon Paul Hernando said in an advisory that the "Office of the 2023 Bar Chair condemns these social media publications as false, baseless, irresponsible, defamatory, contumacious, detestable, and formulated with apparent intent to erode the integrity of the digitalized Bar Examinations."
Hernando emphasized that the 2023 Bar Exams would be checked by four examiners per subject, all of whom were established experts in their respective fields, and were "by no means created or powered by artificial intelligence."
"The Court is currently undertaking proper measures against the said individual, particularly, the prompt engagement of the National Bureau of Investigation in the conduct of criminal investigation of the nefarious activities and questionable circumstances surrounding this personality."
GMA News Online was able to communicate with "Teacher Edgar," who presented himself as the mentor/coach for bar examinees of the Bar Law for Dummies Training Program Facebook account, who denied that he had ever said AI would be checking the Bar Exams.
"Setting the facts straight. I did NOT say na AI ang magche-check," said Teacher Edgar. "Here is the post... I didn't say na AI ang mag check ng answers but only to help the examiners to SORT OUT."
He explained that AI could perform the sorting, but checking the substance of the answers would be through the manual reading of examiners.
As to the NBI starting a criminal investigation on the matter, Teacher Edgar said, "There is no crime committed because there is no law criminalizing giving instructions to their mentees to always begin with an answer Yes or No."
GMA News Online also sought comment from Tzidkenu Dizon Facebook account, but the account's owner had yet to respond as of posting time. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
