DepEd working with authorities to nab suspects behind shooting of Nueva Ecija principal
The Department of Education (DepEd) said it has been coordinating with concerned field offices and the police to apprehend the perpetrators behind the shooting of a public school principal in Jaen, Nueva Ecija.
Reden Daquiz, head of Sto. Tomas North Elementary School, suffered wounds after being shot by unidentified assailants just as he was entering the school premises.
He was onboard in his SUV when motorcycle-riding suspects drove up and attacked him. The victim still managed to get out of his vehicle and enter the school compound to get help from his fellow teachers.
He reportedly was hit seven times by the still unidentified assailants.
The DepEd condemned the shooting incident.
“We denounce any acts of injustice towards our personnel, learners, and stakeholders. We maintain and advocate that our schools and communities remain as zones of peace for every Filipino,” the agency said in a statement. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
