Marcos: No room for cops who tarnish PNP reputation

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday strongly warned that there would be no room for police officers who will tarnish the reputation of the Philippine National Police.

Marcos made the remark as he administered the oath taking of a total of 57 promoted star rank police officers at the Palace.

“Mark my words, there will be no room for leniency for those who engage in acts that tarnish the reputation of our police and jeopardize the safety of our people,” Marcos said in his speech.

“So to our new officers here, I urge to keep your integrity at all times and remain steadfast in your commitment to public service amidst the many challenges faced by your institutions,” he added.

Marcos said police officials should be free from corruption and abuse as his administration has zero tolerance for corrupt officials.

"In this regard, I urge the PNP to be free from any form of corruption and abuse, so it could earn and maintain the trust, the confidence, and the admiration of our people," Marcos said.

"Once again, I must emphasize our zero-tolerance policy for corruption and human rights abuses within the PNP," he added.

He said cops should keep their integrity at all times and remain steadfast in their commitment to public service amidst the many challenges faced by the police organization.

“As leaders, you have to uphold the highest standards of ethics, of professionalism, compassion for human rights, not only amongst ourselves but also amongst our citizens,” Marcos said. 

Marcos promised that the administration is always supportive of the PNP’s plans and programs, especially those that bolster their capabilities.

"As you perform your duties in securing our people, you and your families can rest assured of the government’s full support for your welfare and overall well-being," he said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
