Remulla orders transfer of Fil-Indian businessman drug cases to DOJ
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla ordered the transfer of the firearms and drug charges against Filipino-Indian businessman Amith Chandiramani to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for case buildup.
Under Department Order 498 dated September 11, 2023, Remulla ordered the charges against Chandiramani — pending before the City Prosecutor of Dasmariñas, Cavite — to be handled by Assistant State Prosecutor (ASP) Michael John Humarang.
“ASP Humarang shall handle all cases between/among the same parties which are connected to, necessarily included, or as a consequence of these cases, including counter charges, which might arise in the future,” the order read.
The same order — which took effect immediately — also directed the Office of the City Prosecutor of Dasmariñas, Cavite to transmit all the records of the criminal complaint to Humarang. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
