PNP conducts surprise drug testing among top police officials
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday conducted surprise drug testing among its top officials.
PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. led the officials in undergoing the drug testing at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Friday, the PNP said on Sunday.
The said unannounced on-the-spot drug testing was part of the command conference on Friday attended by 89 top-level officials from the PNP Command Group, Directorial Staff, Regional Directors, and National Support Unit Directors.
Acorda said the drug testing not only determines PNP commanders' fitness but also demonstrates the police force's commitment to integrity enhancement and cleansing of its ranks, particularly those in command positions.
"This surprise drug test underscores the PNP's unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct among its members. It also serves as a clear message that the organization is resolute in its efforts to combat illegal drugs and ensure the integrity of its leadership," Acorda said.
The PNP Forensic Group conducted the drug tests which all yielded negative results. —KG, GMA Integrated News
