The Bureau of Immigration arrested three international fugitives in back-to-back operations in one week.

According to a statement released by the BI on Friday, an operation in a mall located in Imus, Cavite on September 13 resulted in the arrest of two Nigerian nationals who allegedly sold over P8 Million worth of marijuana and heroin.

One of the suspects, Ugochukwu Christopher Nwabufo, was also said to have overstayed his visa as he arrived in the Philippines in 2022, while John Chukwuemeka Enuka had a job in the country but allegedly failed to present any documentation.

The two suspects were charged with violation of Section 5, Section 26, Paragraph B and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese national Chen Kai-Wun was arrested as an undesirable alien during an operation in General Trias, Cavite on September 14.

Records from the BI showed that Chen was tagged as a fugitive from Justice by the Taiwanese government with an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Shilin District Prosecutors Office in Violation of the Controlling Guns, Ammunition and Knives Act of Taiwan in May 2023.

Chen was also said to be involved in facilitating the unlawful entry of another fugitive in the country and was the leader of a notorious Taiwanese syndicate involved in arms trafficking.
