Some rice retailers fail to get cash aid due to errors in records

Some rice retailers were unable to receive their share of the government cash aid for those who suffered losses due to the price ceiling imposed on regular and well-milled rice.

According to Bernadette Reyes' report on "24 Oras," some lacked information on their records and were asked to produce more documents and return.

“Middle name ko lang nalagay nila," one of the affected retailers said.

"Talagang kailangang kailangan [ng ayuda] para medyo makabawi kami kahit kaunti, kasi di na kami makakabenta ng 41 [pesos per kilo] eh. Taas talaga sobra,” he added.

Others do not have their names on the list of beneficiaries.

The Department of Trade and Industry has said that all qualified rice retailers will benefit from the rice subsidy.

“Kahit beyond sept 14, bukas na po yun, matatanggap ang ayuda. ‘Yung perang kaloob sa qualified beneficiary, darating at darating,” DTI FTEB director Fhilip Sawali said.

The DTI said that merchants who wished to be included in the list of retailers may approach their grievance and help desk to be registered and undergo verification. —Jiselle Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
