Transport group hopes all drivers, operators receive fuel subsidy

The Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (ALTODAP) on Sunday said they hoped that all transport workers would receive the fuel subsidies amid the consecutive big-time oil price hikes.

ALTODAP President Boy Vargas said that, previously, many drivers and operators fuel subsidies.

“Sana, ang hinihiling ko lang, kung talagang ipatutupad na ito, ay sana lahat naman ay mabigyan. ‘Wag naman sana may maiwanan pa,” he said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

(I hope, if this is going to be implemented, everyone receives it. Don't leave anyone behind.)

“Nung nakaraan, ‘yung ibang administrasyon, maraming naiwanan, maraming hindi nakakuha. Kawawa naman,” he added.

(Previously, in the past administrations, many were left behind and many did not receive the fuel subsidies. It was pitiful.)

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Friday approved the release of P3 billion for the Fuel Subsidy Program that would support approximately 1.36 million public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators.

Vargas also called on the operators to give the PUV drivers the fuel subsidy which is in the form of call cards that could be used in select gasoline stations in exchange for fuel.

The DBM said beneficiaries of the fuel subsidy program will be given a one-time fuel subsidy, with varying rates depending on the mode of transportation:
