Housewife bets on birthdays for nearly 20 years, hits P61-million lotto jackpot

A housewife who for 20 years had been betting on the birthdates of members of her family became an instant millionaire when she hit the Lotto 6/42 jackpot.

The Las Piñas resident on July 1 won P61,234,178.20 with the combination 18-25–12–14–13–22. She and her husband claimed their prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office recently.

“Almost 20 years ko na pong tinatayaan yung mga birthdays namin mag-anak at buti naman sa awa ng Diyos ay nanalo din po kami,” the winner said on the PCSO's Facebook page.

The winner said she would use her winnings to build the family's home. She also said that she would start an apartment renting business. 

On Thursday, a lone winner also hit the Lotto 6/42 jackpot worth over P32 million.

The combination 03-31-15-19-10-27 won for the Lotto 6/42 bettor P36,257,127.40.

There was no winner in the other major lotto draw, the Super Lotto 6/49.

The combination 06-15-20-38-43-07 could have won for a Super Lotto 6/49 bettor P38,205,605.
