Filing of BSKE COCs suspended anew in NCR, to resume on Sept. 2, 2023

Due to inclement weather, the Commission on Elections has suspended anew the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In an advisory, the Comelec on Thursday night said the filing of COCs in NCR would resume on Saturday, September 2, and would run until Monday, September 4.

Malacañang earlier announced the suspension of work and classes in the capital region due to the expected heavy rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon and the tropical cyclones enhancing it.

The poll body said the filing of COCs in Abra province would resume on Friday, September 1, and would last until Monday, September 4.

The filing of COCs in Ilocos Norte will be extended until Sunday, September 3.

The Comelec temporarily halted the filing of the COCs in the three areas on Thursday morning after work in government offices in NCR, Abra, and Ilocos Norte were suspended due to severe rains and flooding.

The filing of COCs for the 2023 BSKE started on Monday, August 28. The elections will be held on October 30. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA Integrated News
