PNP to launch online training in preparation for BSKE 2023
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday launched an online training for its personnel on securing the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
In a statement, the PNP said the online training will be accessible through the Police Open Academy (POA) portal starting August 29.
"The success of the 2023 Synchronized BSKE Training is a collective effort. Each participant's commitment to the program will contribute to a more efficient and secure electoral process,” PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda said.
According to the PNP, the online training will equip Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) members and uniformed personnel assigned to election duties.
A memorandum circular for its implementation included comprehensive guidelines. It also included the designation of specific responsibilities for various ranks and offices within the PNP.
Office and Unit Commanders, Regional Directors of Police Regional Offices (PROs), and other key personnel are tasked with overseeing training, compliance, and coordination, the PNP said.
On Tuesday, the PNP said it is considering 27 areas to be designated as election areas of concern under the red category for the BSKE.
PNP Deputy Chief for Operations Police Lieutenant General Michael John Dubria said that these red areas are located but not specifically in Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Basilan, Sulu, and the special geographic area.
He added that 232 areas are being considered to be placed under orange category, 4,085 under yellow category, and 37,683 under green category.
Areas classified as green are considered generally peaceful for the conduct of elections. Yellow areas are considered “areas of concern” and orange areas are “areas of immediate concern”. Red category means concerned areas will be placed under Comelec control. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
