Marcos orders Army: Enhance interoperability, be world-class
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday called on the Philippine Army, under its new leadership, to strengthen its interoperability to be a “world-class force.”
Marcos this remarked during the change of command ceremony which saw Lieutenant General Roy Galido formally take over as the new Army chief.
Galido replaced General Romeo Brawner Jr., who is now the chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Marcos said the Philippine Army should boost its engagement with foreign counterparts.
“I urge the entirety of our Army to enhance your interoperability and communications as well as to learn best practices through joint training and exercises, which we intend to further expand,” Marcos said in his speech.
“I look forward to your plans to protect the shared identity that our past and present generations have built and to transform the Army into a world-class force that is a source of our country's security and peace and pride,” he added.
Marcos said he wanted an Army that was agile, adaptable, and competitive. He is confident that the Army would achieve this under Galido's leadership.
"I am confident you will guide the Army to reach more milestones in our campaign in our country to end insurgency and terrorism threats as well as to address the lingering and emerging threats to our national security," Marcos said.
Marcos vowed that his administration would remain committed to modernizing the entire Philippine Army.
"Hand in hand we will work together to heighten the internal and external security of the Philippines to create a more conducive environment for conducive growth and empowerment," Marcos said. —NB, GMA Integrated News
