Egay death toll now at 13 —NDRRMC


The death toll due to Typhoon Egay has climbed to 13, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Friday.

In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said six deaths have been confirmed, while seven are still up for validation.

Of the confirmed deaths, five were from the Cordillera Administrative Region while the other was from Western Visayas. 

Meanwhile, authorities are also validating reports that 12 individuals have been injured while 20 have gone missing.

The report also shows that a total of 140,923 families or 502,782 persons were affected by the typhoon.

Among those affected, a total of 8,890 families or 29,223 individuals are staying inside evacuation centers while 3,851 families or 13,608 were served outside evacuation centers.

The NDRRMC also reported 115 flooding incidents and other related incidents from the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Region.

According to the NDRRMC, 82 infrastructures were damaged in the Ilocos Region, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Davao, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Region with an estimated cost of P656.3 million.

Meanwhile, more than P18.2 million worth of assistance was provided to affected residents.
