Marcos vows aid for Egay victims

KUALA LUMPUR  — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. vowed that assistance will be provided to the victims of Typhoon Egay, including those farmers whose crops have been damaged.

“Yes nakabantay kami diyan, at this point marami talagang… may nasirang mga  bahay at saka ‘yung maraming natangay na gamit…” Marcos told the Philippine media delegation.

“Some areas kakatanim lang so we have to find out what are the areas na nasira ‘yung bagong tanim para makapagbigay tayo ng seedlings para makabawi naman sila, maihahabol pa nila itong season na ito,” he added.

Marcos said that while in Malaysia, he had been getting reports from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, weather bureau PAGASA, and the Philippine Coast Guard as regards the situation in the typhoon-hit provinces.

Marcos said rescue operations are ongoing for the victims of Egay.

“Sabi ko this is the moment that the roads are passable, the moment that we are able to provide relief right now, rescue kasi may mga na-stranded pa. So rescue, eventually relief,” the President said.

Typhoon Egay has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but rains will continue to persist in parts of the country, according to PAGASA.
