NDRRMC: Nearly 17K people affected by Egay, Habagat
A total of 16,888 people or 4,554 families have been affected by Super Typhoon Egay and the Southwest Monsoon so far in 28 barangays in Ilocos, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Northern Mindanao, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.
Of the affected population, 38 individuals or 16 families are staying in three evacuation centers, while 62 people or 12 families are taking shelter in other places.
One person was reported injured in Western Visayas, the NDRRMC said.
Eight landslides, five soil erosion, and four flooding incidents were reported in Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas, it added.
A total of 11 road sections and one bridge became not passable.
The NDRRMC said power outage was experienced in an area in Bicol and a water supply problem in another area in the same region.
A total of six domestic flights were canceled in Ilocos, Bicol, and Metro Manila.
Around 70 seaports also suspended operations in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
A total of 4,743 passengers, 644 rolling cargoes, and 22 vessels were stranded.
So far, eight houses were reported damaged, seven partially and one totally, due to Egay and the Southwest Monsoon effects.
Damage to infrastructure worth P1.5 million was reported in Western Visayas.
A total of 128 classes and 87 work schedules were suspended.
Assistance worth P305,000 has been given to the victims, according to the NDRRMC.
Due to the threat of a three-meter storm surge, residents in coastal barangays of Cagayan are now being evacuated, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said.
PDRRMO chief Rueli Rapsing told Super Radyo dzBB that the evacuation would cover 10 municipalities.
"Saturday nung itinaas po na red alert yung status ng probinsya, nasa Charlie Protocol na. Lahat po ng evacuation center, emergency operations centers ng bawat bayan, at incident management teams are activated po," he said.

Meanwhile, in Isabela, some residents, including those in coastal areas, were evacuated due to the threat of the gale warning and storm surge.
Isabela PDRRMO chief Isabela PDRRMO chief Constante Foronda said the towns of Maconacon, Divilacan, Palanan, and Dinapigue are in coastal areas.
Around 20 families from Divalacan and one from Palanan have been evacuated.
"May mga barangay po sa Divilacan na kailangan na po nilang ilipat sa mga evacuation centers o sa mga barangay halls dahil nasa tabing dagat po sila at medyo mababa," he said.
(The residents in some barangays in Divalacan need to be transferred to evacuation centers or barangay halls because they are in coastal and low-lying areas.)
