Marcos lauds role, help of diplomats during his foreign trips
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Wednesday hailed the role of diplomats in the realm of foreign relations, especially when he is on official trips abroad.
"You are being diplomats, you all work very quietly and in the background, and do not call attention to yourselves," Marcos said during the 125th anniversary celebration of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
"But having traveled a great deal with my mother when she was First Lady and myself for many other things, I have a very clear idea of how much work is done by our foreign stations and the people that inhabit those foreign stations, and how much you are expected to do with sometimes very little," Marcos added.
Marcos said that when he is on foreign trips, he feels very well-equipped because of the support and help of the diplomats.
"When I get there, I'm properly briefed, I have good information, maayos ang takbo [all is smooth sailing]. All I have to do is make 'papogi' to everybody because you did the legwork for me already," Marcos said.
