Philippines logs 1,938 COVID-19 cases from July 10-16, 2023
The Philippines new coronavirus cases continued to decline, with the Department of Health (DOH) reporting 1,938 infections from July 10 to 16 — 23% lower than the previous week's cases.
Based on the DOH bulletin, the daily average cases also dropped to 277 from the 359 recorded from July 3 to July 9. The latest COVID-19 infections included 25 severe and critical cases.
The DOH also logged 26 COVID-19 fatalities in June. Of the figures, 19 occurred in July, five in June, and two in May.
At least 324 severe and critical cases were admitted in hospitals as of June 16, the COVID-19 bulletin indicated, accounting for 8.8% of the total coronavirus admission.
Out of 2,264 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for coronavirus patients, 234 or 10.4% are occupied while 2,806 or 16% of the total 17,583 non-ICU beds were in use.
Vaccination updates
The DOH said it would still not be able to generate the latest numbers “due to the ongoing migration of the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) by the DICT (Department Of Information And Communications Technology).”
As of March 19, a total of 78.4 million Filipinos were already fully vaccinated against COVID-19, covering 100.4% of the government’s target population.
At least 7.1 million senior citizens, or 82.16% of the target A2 population, have also received their primary vaccine series.
Meanwhile, 23.8 million individuals have received their booster shots.
286 cases on Monday
Meanwhile, the DOH logged 286 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the total nationwide caseload to 4,170,233.
The country’s active infections further decreased to 5,681 from the 5,789 reported on Sunday.
Total recoveries rose by 394 to 4,098,042 while the death toll remains at 66,510.
The National Capital Region is still the region with the highest number of new cases in the last 14 days with 837. It was followed by Calabarzon with 661; Western Visayas with 497; and the Ilocos Region with 350.
On Sunday, 3,427 individuals were tested for the coronavirus. A total of 385 testing laboratories submitted their test results.
The country’s bed occupancy rate remains at low risk with 15.1%.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
