Marcos reiterates vow to prioritize agricultural development
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. reiterated on Saturday his vow to prioritize developing agricultural land to boost the country's crop production.
"As President and concurrent Agriculture Secretary, I am relentlessly pushing and prioritizing the development of our agricultural lands," Marcos said in a speech delivered by Presidential Assistant for Northern Luzon Assistant Secretary, Ana Carmela Remigio, during the 36th Cordillera Day Commemoration.
"I cannot emphasize it enough, but we really need to invest in the development, productivity, and modernization of our agricultural sector," he said.
Marcos was supposed to attend the event in Apayao but had to cancel due to the bad weather.
Marcos noted that by building infrastructure and improving the market linkages of the farmers, the country's farmlands will yield crops and also provide opportunities that could help the nation.
He also urged the public to continue supporting the government’s pursuit of a "better, brighter, and more productive life for everyone." —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
