Marcos to PAGCOR: Be socially impactful, responsibly lead gaming practices
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday expressed hope that the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) would be “socially impactful” as a social institution.
“It is my hope that this anniversary will inspire you to continue setting new standards and keep being at the forefront of an industry that is not only financially successful but also socially impactful and most importantly socially relevant,” Marcos said at the 40th anniversary of PAGCOR.
Marcos urged PAGCOR to be at the front and center in reshaping the gaming landscape “with responsible practices, unwavering integrity, and a steadfast commitment to combating illicit activities.”
Marcos acknowledged PAGCOR’s undeniable contribution to nation-building.
According to PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco, the agency’s recorded total contribution to nation-building amounted to around P607 billion, while its total dividend remittances since 2011 was at P64 billion.
He said this brought PAGCOR’s total contributions to P671 billion.
Under the Marcos administration, Tengco said PAGCOR’s total contributions to nation-building had reached P45 billion.
This is foreseen to reach P70 billion by the end of the year. — DVM, GMA Integrated news
