PNP: 69 complaints filed over P6.7-billion shabu haul
A total of 69 criminal and administrative complaints have been filed against personalities who have been linked to the controversial buy-bust operation in Manila where P6.7 billion worth of shabu was seized, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Monday.
According to PNP chief Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda said the raps had been filed before the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Office, and the National Police Commission.
“We were able to file 69 cases against the personalities involved, ranging from the conduct of the operation, the lapses, all the administrative and criminal cases were filed,” Acorda said at a news conference.
Acorda said the PNP was still looking into the source of the 990 kilos of shabu which were seized during the questioned operation.
“We have a story on that, yung intelligence and admission of some personnel. These cannot be used or publicly announced because they are subject of an affidavit,” Acorda said.
In October 2022, dismissed Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo was arrested after authorities confiscated 990 kilos of shabu worth P6.7 billion during a series of anti-drug operations in Manila.
After the operation, some police officers allegedly pilfered around 42 kilos of shabu from the confiscated illegal drugs.
Former PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) director Police Brigadier General Narciso Domingo admitted that there were lapses in the police operation.
In June, criminal complaints were filed against the 50 police officers in connection with the shabu haul.
The complaints are for the violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act; the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; the Falsification of Documents; Perjury; Offering False Testimony; the Malversation of Public Funds or Property; and Obstruction of Justice. —NB, GMA Integrated News
