Nothing lewd with sexy dance at NBI event, says Long Mejia
Comedian Long Mejia said there was nothing lewd with the performance of dancers at the socials after a National Bureau of Investigation command conference last week.
According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras," Mejia was also at the NBI event where he and the dancers were invited to perform.
"Sexy na masagwa? Hindi, wala akong nakitang ganu'n e. Kasi sinasyaw nila sa national TV 'yan e. Napapanood 'yan e," Mejia said.
"Wala akong nakitang masagwa sa sayaw nila," he added.
The video of the performances which Mejia posted on his vlog was one of the reasons why the "sexy dance" became public.
Mejia said he and the dancers only did their jobs as entertainers.
He said they also weren't paid.
Mejia said he had a debt of gratitude for a friend. He asked that the friend no longer be named.
“Ako po ay nakahandang tumitig sa harap ng camera, wala pong anumang singko na natanggap doon dahil meron lang po akong tinatanaw na malaking utang na loob sa isang kaibigan.” Mejia said.
NBI director Medardo De Lemos has apologized over the "sexy dance" performance before NBI officials after a command conference on June 30.
De Lemos said the NBI would find out who brought the sexy dancers to the post-conference "fellowship."
"Kung naging offensive man ang pagsasayaw na ito after the command conference sa sensibilities ng ating mamamaya lalo na ang mga kababaihan, humihingi po kami ng paumanhin," De Lemos said in a news conference.
(If this dance after the command conference offended the sensibilities of our citizens particularly the women, we apologize.)
"Aalamin natin kung sino ang dapat managot sa pagkakamali na ito. We will never tolerate indecency in the agency," he added.
(We will find out who should be made accountable for the mistake.)
"We will not hesitate to dismiss if dismisal is the penalty," De Lemos said.
The "sexy dance" has the Department of Justice looking into the matter. The NBI is under the DOJ.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Thursday said that the DOJ would investigate the "sexy dance," a video which has gone viral.
“Definitely, we do not like this to happen, no. We will investigate it also,” Remulla said at a press briefing.
“These are the forms of misbehavior that we don’t need in the country,” he added. —Jiselle Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
