NBI exec ordered Dera escorted on dates, say guards

An official of  the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) allegedly ordered jail guards to escort detainee Jose Adrian “Jad” Dera during dates and road trips.

According to John Consulta’s exclusive report on “24 Oras” Thursday, the guards said NBI Security Management chief Jake Feudo gave orders to allow Dera to go out of his cell and even guard him on his road trips including his reported “date” in Makati City.

The NBI guards said that was not the first time the high-profile detainee went out of the facility, adding they accompanied him at least seven times.

These include a trip to Tagaytay City, an overnight stay in Angeles, Pampanga, two visits in Batangas, and a recent road trip with his wife for Father’s Day.

“Mag-a-advise siya na may lakad po, sumama raw po kami,” said one of the guards. “Mas mataas po ‘yun sa amin. ‘Pag hindi po kami sumunod baka po matanggal po kami”.

(He would advise us if Dera will go out. He said we need to accompany him. We obeyed because he holds a higher rank. We might lose our jobs if we do not comply.)

“Kami po bilang jail guards, sumunod lang kami sa utos. Baka matanggal po kami sa trabaho ‘pag hindi kami sumunod,” another guard said.

(We just complied with the order as jail guards. We might get fired if we don't do that.)

Speaking to GMA Integrated News, Feudo refuted the claims of the jail guards that gave the order to bring Dera out of detention.

Feudo said he was aware this was prohibited.

He said Dera's trip to the hospital was the only one that had his permission.

The guards who spoke to GMA Integrated News were among the six security personnel being investigated over the incident.  On Tuesday, they underwent an inquest proceeding at the Department of Justice.  They are facing a complaint for bribery and violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

The guards said they are ready to coordinate with authorities for the investigation.

“Sa Public Attorney’s Office, sana matulungan niyo kami na ipaglaban kung ano po ‘yung totoo. Handa kaming makipag-koordinasyon,” one guard said.
