DepEd employees to get P3,000 anniversary bonus

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Thursday that more than 958,000 of its teaching and non-teaching staff are set to receive a P3,000 bonus as part of the celebration of its 125th founding anniversary.

DepEd Order No. 11, s. 2023, signed by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, states that eligible personnel shall receive the P3,000 bonus, provided that they have rendered at least one year of service in the agency as of the date of the milestone year.

Milestone years are defined as the government agency's 15th anniversary and every fifth year thereafter.

All DepEd officials and employees who are employed on a full-time or part-time basis, whether permanent, coterminous, provisional, temporary, casual, or contractual, and whose employment is in the nature of a regular employee, are eligible to receive the bonus.

Those who are absent without leave (AWOL) or no longer in the service as of June 23; were found guilty of any offense in connection with their work during the five-year interval between the milestone years; and serve as consultants and are under contract of service, job orders, and others similarly situated, are not covered by the bonus.

DepEd said the grant of the anniversary bonus shall not be earlier than June 23 of the milestone year. The agency was founded on June 23, 1898. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
