Philippines’ active COVID-19 caseload falls to 36-day low
The Philippines reported 841 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday to mark the country’s third straight day of posting fewer cases, data released by the Department of Health (DOH) revealed.
The latest figure brought the country’s active caseload to 11,202, down from 11,644 on Saturday, and the lowest in 36 days since the 10,195 active cases reported on May 6, 2023.
Recoveries climbed by 1,283 to 4,077,348, indicating the third straight day of over 1,000 new recovery cases, while the death tally was unchanged at 66,481.
The National Capital Region (NCR) accounted for the highest number of cases in the past two weeks with 4,197, followed by Calabarzon with 2,895, Central Luzon with 2,025, Western Visayas with 1,315, and Cagayan Valley with 995.
Broken down in terms of provinces and cities, Quezon City had the most cases with 1,058, followed by Cavite with 930, Iloilo with 784, Bulacan with 699, and Laguna with 662.
The same data showed there were 5,399 samples from 5,218 individuals tested on June 10, covering 284 testing labs.
The cumulative positivity rate stood at 13.5%.
In terms of facilities, the DOH reported a bed occupancy rate of 19.7% as 4,962 out of the 25,185 beds were occupied as of June 9, 2023.
The latest data available from the DOH showed that there were 179.046 million doses of COVID-19 administered as of March 19, 2023 — 75.703 million first doses, 79.164 million complete doses, and 24.178 million booster doses. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
