Philippines records 855 new COVID-19 cases; active tally drops to 14,742
The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday recorded 855 new COVID-19 infections as the active tally dropped to 14,742.
This was the first time the number of new cases fell below 1,000 since May 3 with 867 new infections reported, according to GMA Integrated News Research.
Based on the latest date, the country’s nationwide COVID-19 tally is currently at 4,141,535, while the active tally went down to 14,742 from 15,621 on Monday. This was the lowest active tally in 19 days.
Among the regions with the most cases in the recent two weeks are the National Capital Region with 7,800; Calabarzon with 5,026; Central Luzon with 2,342; Western Visayas with 1,620; and Bicol region with 861.
Meanwhile, at least 1,734 new recoveries were recorded bringing the nationwide recovery tally to 4,060,327, while the death tally stood at 66,466 with no new deaths.
The latest figures also showed that at least 5,512 beds were occupied, while 19,769 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country stood at 21.8% as of Sunday.
A total of 7,485 individuals were tested, while 319 testing labs submitted data, according to the DOH.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
