Military verifying reports on ASG leader Sahiron's death
The Armed Forces of the Philippines is still verifying reports on the death of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) senior leader Radullan Sahiron.
Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brigadier General Ignatius Patrimonio said they received information on Sahiron’s death two months ago.
He, however, cannot confirm it as they have yet to see the body.
Sahiron was among the individuals designated by the Anti-Terrorism Council as members of local terrorist groups, prompting the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to freeze their assets last July 2021.
Last November 2012, Sahiron was placed on the list of the most wanted terrorists by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for "his alleged involvement in the 1993 kidnapping of an American in the Philippines by the Abu Sayyaf Group.”
The FBI also offered a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to his arrest.—Richa Noriega/AOL, GMA Integrated News
