PMA topnotcher Leonor’s pa very happy son followed in his footsteps
BAGUIO CITY — No words could express the happiness of retired military man Joel Leonor when his son graduated as the topnotcher of the Philippine Military Academy's “Madasigon” Class of 2023.
In an interview with reporters, Joel said he is very proud of his son, Cadet First Class Warren Leonor.
“Sobrang saya, talagang di lang saya, sobrang, sobrang napakasaya namin, dahil napakalaki ng karangalang ibinigay sa amin ng aming anak,” he said.
Joel, a former technical sergeant, said he is happy because his son followed his footsteps in becoming part of the military.
“Bale natuwa ako, una sa lahat sinundan niya ang yapak ko na maging isang military. At ang tangi kong payo sa kanya, bago ka pumasok ng military, normal na ‘yung pagka-sibilyan mo ay aalisin diyan. Hindi pupuwedeng masunod ang gusto mo, kung san mo ang gusto,” Joel said.
Warren’s mother, Angelina, said that while she is proud and happy for her son, she still gets nervous as she does not know where he will be deployed.
“Hindi pa rin nawawala. Kasi po hindi niyo naman siya laging kapiling, hindi niyo alam saan siya mag-i-istay,” she said.
Warren chose the Philippine Air Force as his branch of service.
He said he chose to enter the academy as he is inspired by his father and that it was his dream to become a pilot. — BM, GMA Integrated News
