Marcos, First Lady sail, enjoy sunset with other ASEAN leaders, spouses

LABUAN BAJO — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos shared a light and relaxing moment with other ASEAN leaders as they enjoyed the scenes of the island.

Marcos and the First Lady boarded a cruise ship together with the other ASEAN leaders and their spouses on Wednesday.

The President shared photos on his official Twitter account.

In a tweet, Marcos said, “For a little while after a productive day, we shifted away from discussions on affairs of state and renewed our friendships with fellow ASEAN leaders,” Marcos said.

“What a wonderful break!” He added.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo invited ASEAN leaders to enjoy the sunset from the Pinisi boat off the waters of Labuan Bajo pier in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

The sunset viewing activity was done after a series of plenary sessions and meetings of the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

At 4:51 p.m., the ASEAN leaders’ convoy arrived at Labuan Bajo Marina pier, with President Jokowi’s and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo’s ride on the lead.

President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana boarded the Pinisi boat deck to enjoy the sunset, followed by the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassanal Bolkiah, who was accompanied by Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

After that, other ASEAN leaders and their spouses took turns getting on the deck, where chairs have been arranged so they could spend the evening while engaging in warm conversation. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
