PNP to deploy to 59,587 cops to ensure a safe, peaceful Labor Day
The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced they would deploy 59,587 police officers to ensure public safety and peace during Monday's Labor Day celebrations.
PNP Chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said in a Sunday statement that the deployment of nearly 60,000 policemen was "enough to ensure order and security in all places of engagement."
Acorda reminded his personnel to strictly observe the policy of maximum tolerance, respect human rights, and adhere to Police Operational Procedures.
"The PNP will assist in all lawful and peaceful activities in commemoration of Labor Day," the PNP Chief emphasized.
Meanwhile, the PNP would coordinate with other government agencies to ensure that Labor Day was celebrated peacefully.
Acorda reminded the public to be vigilant and alert at all times, warning that "some groups may take advantage of the situation to foment chaos and violence."
The national police force would also strictly implement operational guidelines to cover various aspects of police operations, including traffic management, civil disturbance management, anti-criminality, and counter-terrorism.
The PNP urged the public to cooperate with authorities and follow the security protocols put in place during the event. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
