PDEA destroys over P4B worth of illegal drugs
More than P4 billion worth of confiscated illegal drugs were destroyed in Trece Martires City, Cavite on Thursday, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
In a statement, the PDEA said the 700 kilograms of dangerous drugs worth P4,154,802,996.83 were incinerated at the facility of the Integrated Waste Management, Inc.
These dangerous drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) were evidence seized from different operations conducted by the PDEA and other law enforcement agencies.
The following are the pieces of drug evidence destroyed with their estimated value:

“The pieces of drug evidence were destroyed through thermal decomposition or thermolysis,” the PDEA said.
“Exposed to temperatures of over 1,000 degrees centigrade, all dangerous drugs are completely decomposed or broken down and are impossible to reconstitute,” it added.
The PDEA said it oversees the destruction of all seized dangerous drugs in compliance with Section 21, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 1, Series of 2002.
Representatives from the Department of Justice, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, local officials of Barangay Aguado, representatives from the Philippine National Police, other law enforcement agencies, and non-government organizations (NGOs) were present during the activity, the PDEA said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
