Marcos says 1.2-M housing sites started since he assumed office
SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan — At least 1.2 million housing units have been started by the administration under its flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing Program (4PH), President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Wednesday.
This as Marcos led the “mega groundbreaking” of six housing projects in the province, which could generate up to 30,000 shelter units. A total of 12,563 housing units will be constructed during the initial phase of the six projects.
In an ambush interview, Marcos was asked about the current figures of the housing units that were already started in his ten months in office and if the one million annual target is still feasible.
"Well, ang naumpisahan na, lahat-lahat, I think na na-groundbreak is about 1.3, 1.2 million na nasimulan na," Marcos said.
(We already started, I think about 1.3, 1.2 million housing units have already had their groundbreaking.)
Marcos said he wants to inspect the housing units were already built so that the public will see the shelter project is really being implemented.
"Kaya sinasabi, tintukso ko si Secretary Jerry. Sabi ko sa kanya: O, sa susunod naman, dalhin mo kami doon sa mga --- may naitayo na. Kasi baka sasabihin nila panay ribbon cutting natin, tapos wala nang nangyari," he said.
(I am teasing Secretary Jerry (Jose Rizalino Acuzar) that next time, he should bring me to houses that were already built because maybe they would say we're only having ribbon cutting ceremonies, but nothing is happening.)
"So sabi ko, that’s the next part. Pagka nagsimula ng umaakyat, iinspeksyunin natin para makita naman na talagang gumagalaw," Marcos said.
(That's the next part, we will inspect so we will really see that it's being implemented.)
The 4PH aims to build one million housing units annually until 2028 to address the housing backlog.
The housing projects in this province include the Rising City Residential Project in Barangay Gaya-Gaya, San Jose del Monte City, the San Rafael Heights Development Project in Barangay Caingin in San Rafael, and the Mom’s Ville Homeowners Association Incorporated Project in Barangay Penabatan, Pulilan.
Three other groundbreaking ceremonies were also simultaneously conducted in Pandi, Guiguinto, and Malolos City. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
