Catapang wants a ‘Global City’ BuCor headquarters
Bureau of Corrections chief Gregorio Catapang on Friday said he was looking to turn the BuCor headquarters in Muntinlupa into a "Global City."
Ngayon Global City na,” Catapang said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.
(I'm having a master plan made so we can have a BuCor Global City. Believe me, it will be amazing because previously it was just a jail. Now, it'll be a Global City.)
According to Catapang, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla instructed him to allot 80 hectares for socialized housing.
(All the informal settlers, BuCor employees, BuCor retirees, there will be a high-rise building here.)
He said Remulla told him to turn the 250 hectares into a government center.
Government center, 250 hectares ito, pwede kahit yung Kongreso ilipat dito,” Catapang said.
(For my part, what I'm doing on my side, it will be a one-stop shop here south of Metro Manila. A government center, it's 250 hectares, you can even move Congress here.)
(All the departments can get a satellite office here so if they need to transact something in Metro Manila, at the main offices, they can do it here through digitalization.)
Catapang said he would need a budget of P77 billion to relocate inmates to other prisons and penal farms, and for the new prison construction. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
