Priest washes feet of kin of EJK victims

A priest, who helped found an organization counseling victims of drug war, washed the feet of the kin of alleged extrajudicial killings (EJK) on Maundy Thursday, according to a social media post and GMA Integrated News bulletin.

On Facebook, the Arnold Janssen Kalinga Foundation (AJKFI) said Fr. Flavie Villanueva, their founder and president, washed the feet of at least 12 relatives of EJK victims after a mass held at the AJ Kalinga Center in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The ritual commemorates how Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples in a gesture of humility, one of his last acts with his followers before his crucifixion.

"When there is service and humility, love is sure to follow," Villanueva said.

Other participants whose feet were washed by Villanueva were around 40 former homeless persons who were helped by the AJKFI, partners members of the organization, AJKFI staff, and some media members.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
