Chinese employers arrested for allegedly detaining househelp
Police rescued a househelp who was allegedly detained in a condominium unit in Taguig City by her two Chinese employers.
The victim, alias "Annalyn," 30 years old, was also accused of stealing, according to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras."
The Southern Police District - Special Operations Unit (SPD-SOU) went to a condominium in Bonifacio Global City after receiving a complaint from Annalyn.
The guard, however, tried to block the police officers, barangay officials, and friends of the victim. The authorities immediately proceeded to the unit and rescued the victim. Her employers were also arrested.
According to Annalyn, she worked for her employers for almost a year. She said she was not treated well and when she asked to return to the province, they locked her in a room. Her employers also took her cellphone.
The Chinese employers denied the accusations.
"I told her if you want to go out, or want to buy something, just go, it's okay," one of the employers said.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
