Marcos says wife Liza has 'no input' in gov't appointments
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Monday that First Lady Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos has "no input" in the appointments he made under his administration.
In a panel interview, GMA Integrated News' Ivan Mayrina asked the President about how involved the First Lady is in his choices for the members of his official family.
"Zero, she really has no input on that. The First Lady helps me in terms of the organization because she was actually very very good at that, organizing which office, how the workflow goes, where the documents go through," said Marcos.
"She's a well-trained lawyer so she's very good at that. But that's the extent of it, we don't talk policy together, I mean she'll comment... she'll generally say, 'that looks good,' 'that doesn't look good, I don't know why you're doing that,' 'what a great idea,' but that's it," he added.
Early this year, the First Lady clarified that she had nothing to do with the appointment of officials in the Intelligence Service Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).
She also warned the people who were using her name to get appointed to government positions.
When asked if he is consulting his wife when making difficult decisions, Marcos responded he is asking the First Lady about the legal aspects and not about political matters.
Meanwhile, Marcos also denied that they are grooming Ilocos Norte Representative Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos to be future president.
It can be noticed that the presidential son was with the President in some of his travels abroad including the working trip to Davos, Switzerland.
"No, we're not grooming him for anything. He's grooming himself, he has decided on this career in politics and he will handle it the way he does. There's not some long range plan that one day Sandro is going to be the president. He will laugh in your face if you tell him that," Marcos explained.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
