DOH logs 399 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 10,587

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 399 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 4,071,963.

Sunday's cases follows a week of less than 300 daily new cases, with 225 new infections tallied on Saturday.

Also, Sunday's new infections increased the country’s active cases slightly to 10,587 from Saturday's 10,555.

While the increase in active cases comes after eight straight days of decreasing active cases, Sunday was the fourth consecutive day that less than 11,000 active cases were recorded.

At 377, new recoveries were the highest in 4 days, and brought total recoveries to 3,995,682.

Sunday's recoveries, however, comes after eight straight days of more new recoveries than new cases.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose by 14 to 65,694.

The regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,297, followed by Calabarzon with 628, and Central Luzon with 301.

The Health Department said at least 9,705 individuals were tested, while 307 testing labs submitted data on January 21.

DOH also said that bed occupancy in the country was 18.8%, with 5,079 beds occupied and 21,909 beds vacant. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
