Manila court clears Sandra Cam, others of murder charges
The Manila Regional Trial Court on Monday acquitted former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member Sandra Cam of murder over the killing of a vice mayor in Masbate in 2019.
According to Manny Vargas’ report on Super Radyo dzBB, the Manila RTC Branch 42 also acquitted her son, Marco Martin Cam, and five others for failure of the prosecution to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
The decision was penned by Judge Dinah Aguila-Topacio.
Meanwhile, Atty. Buenaventura Miranda, the legal counsel of Cam, said they aim to receive a copy of the decision within the day for the release of the accused.
For his part, Batuan, Masbate Mayor Charmax Jan Yuson, the son of slain vice mayor Charlie Yuson III, said they are dismayed with the decision and will ask for reconsideration.
The case stemmed from the attack that killed the elder Yuson and wounded his companion Alberto Alforte IV while they were having breakfast in Sampaloc, Manila on October 9, 2019. —Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA Integrated News
