DOH logs 279 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 12,143
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 279 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 4,070,287.
This was the second straight day that fewer than 400 cases were recorded, with 368 new infections tallied on Saturday.
Based on the DOH’s latest data, the country’s active cases decreased to 12,143 from 12,473 on Saturday. This is the third consecutive day that less than 12,500 active cases were recorded.
The number of recoveries climbed to 3,992,554 while the death toll rose by 15 to 65,590.
According to the DOH, the regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,761 followed by Calabarzon with 895 and Central Luzon with 458.
The Health Department said at least 8,879 individuals were tested, while 305 testing labs submitted data on January 14.
DOH also said that the bed occupancy in the country was 19.6%, with 5,291 beds occupied, while 21,654 were vacant. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
