More alleged Cavite real estate scam victims come forward

More victims of an alleged real estate scam trooped to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cavite provincial field unit office to file complaints.

According to Emil Sumangil’s Friday “24 Oras” report, the victims filed complaints against the Dahum Builders real estate company which they alleged did not turn over lots to the investors even if they were fully paid.

“We have received a certification coming from the Department of Human Settlements and Development na itong Dahum Builders ay walang karapatan magbenta ng lupa sa kahit ano mang subdivisions,” said CIDG-Cavite chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Benedick Poblete.

The CIDG said the complainants bought lots in different subdivisions in Cavite and Tagaytay City from the company.

“Since 2018 po nagbebenta sila ng lupa. But until now many of these 11 subdivisions and villages ay napakarami pang hindi nabibigyan ng lupa. More or less now we have at least 200 complainants na so biglang lobo po yung complainants natin,” Poblete said.

Complainant Margie Laher said she bought a lot from the company as part of her retirement plan and paid it with the help of her child who is an OFW nurse in Saudi Arabia.

“Umiiyak siya, 'Nay, bakit ganoon? Ang sakit po. Hindi ko maintindihan,'” Laher said.

Another complainant Glendelyn De Leon said she did not know how to recover the money that her child, who is a factory worker in Taiwan, paid to the company.

“Talagang pinaghirapan niya, three years to pay pero pinilit niya. Wala pang dalawang taon binayaran niya sa kagustuhan niyang mapunta sa kanya yung lupa para yung ibang maiipon niya ipagpapagawa na niya ng bahay para paguwi niya mayroon siyang masasabing sariling kanya,” De Leon said.

This was also the problem of complainant Perla Loyola because her child, who is in London, was also worrying about the situation.

“Niloko lang pala tayo,” Loyola said.

Complainant Maricel Capistrano said the lot that she bought was supposed to be for her two children.

“Yun sana paghahatian ng mga anak ko kahit paano may maiiwanan ako sa kanila, syempre masakit po opo masakit na inaasahan namin may ipupundar na kaming bahay doon yun pala ganito ang mangyayari wala po,” Capistrano said.

The CIDG said they filed a complaint for violation of the Subdivision and Condominium Buyers Protective Decree, swindling and estafa against the company's CEO - Patricio Achas.

GMA News is still trying to get a comment from the said company CEO.

“Itong pinapangalanan po nila as the head ng corporation si Patricio Achas, we have filed two cases against this person,” Poblete said. — Richa Allyssa Noriega/DVM, GMA Integrated News
