Mom appeals for help for her 1-year-old child suffering from tongue-tie

The mom of a one-year-old child suffering from tongue-tie in Tondo, Manila is asking for help.

On a “24 Oras” report Wednesday, Cristine Conejar said she noticed there was something wrong with her child Prince Ethan the moment she gave birth to him.

“Yung pagkalabas niya po, napansin ko na po ‘yon tapos tinanong ko po agad yung doktor. Parang style ahas (yung dila). ‘Pag ilalabas niya po, hati yung dila niya,” she said.

Though Prince Ethan remains energetic, Cristine is still worried as he has a hard time eating.

“Masabaw yung pagkain niya. ‘Pag mga matitigas po, hindi po talaga siya kakain tapos pag sa dede, mahilig po siyang mangagat,” she said.

“Sana po matulungan niyo po kami nang hindi na po siya mahirapan, nang hindi na po niya ito madala hanggang paglaki niya,” she added.

ENT Specialist Dr. Gil Vicente from the St. Luke’s Medical Center said tongue-tie or ankyloglossia is commonly due to genetics, and it does usually result in difficulty in eating.

“Hinihila kasi yung dila so since meron ditong frenulum, nagiging heart-shaped. Pwedeng nahihirapan mag-breastfeed. Parang ang bagal, tagal niyang mabusog kasi nahihirapan,” he said.
